Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (Pinngortitaleriffik)

The Greenland Institute of Natural Resources is the centre for natural research of the government of Greenland. The institute is located in Nuuk and was established in 1995. The purpose of the organisation is to provide the scientific basis for a sustainable use of the living resourrces in and around Greenland, to protect the environment and the biological diversity, to offer advice to the government of Greenland, and not least to publish the results of its research.

 

The Climate Research Centre has been connected to the institute since its establishment in 2009. The centre has an international research network and does research in the effect of climate changes on the nature and society of Greenland. The Danish Ministry of Science has concluded an agreement with the Greenlandic ministry for a five year period for a start.

The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS)

The work field of the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) – geo-scientific studies, research, consultancy and geological mapping - primarily covers Denmark and Greenland. GEUS is a research and consultancy institution under the Danish Ministry for Climate and Energy.

National Environmental Research Institute

A major activity of the National Environmental Research Institute (DMU) is to carry out research in and estimate environmental aspects of oil and mineral research in Greenland in support of the administration of the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum.

Greenland Survey - Asiaq

Greenland Survey, Asiaq, collects data about the physical environment of Greenland. Asiaq handles operations within the fields of hydrology, climate, geotechnics, surveying, and mapping and also participates in a number of projects.

Centre for Arctic Technology

The Centre for Arctic Technology was established in co-operation between Greenland and Denmark to improve the technical and scientific research in the inhabited part of Greenland.

 

Centre for Arctic Technology focuses on research in construction, environment, raw materials, and energy.
